Come with us in this exclusive engagement only to be had here at Phoenix Atelier.
At Phoenix Atelier our mode is slow and steady. There is no point dumping a bunch of information on you that you won’t remember or have the time to do. So our structure is bite size that can fit in anyone’s busy schedule.
All of our programs are curriculum based lasting 8 weeks in duration. Just like any school you will have new daily content and assignments given to you. On average daily assignment will take you between 15 minutes and a full hour to complete. This is of course defendant on the complexities of that day and its subject matter. Once a week you will be invited to a live session where your instructor will review and critique your work.
SUNDAY TO SUNDAY
Every day you will have access to brand new learning material and videos. At the end of each day’s material there will be a small yet IMPORTANT exercise for you to follow through on.
* It is the accumulation of the small things we DO that make us who we are.
On Fridays, you will be given a larger assignment to do over the weekend. This assignment will recap the elements learned and solidify the teachings for the week.
LIVE REVIEWS
Your Assignments will be reviewed by your instructor during the live Go2meetings. The day that this will occur will be chosen by the instructor as to their availability. Whatever the day is, it will remain consistent for the duration of the course. (Baring no unforeseen complications.)
*These are not private reviews as it is our belief that as PROFESSIONAL, artists we must learn to deal with the stigma of public reviews of their personal work. The proverbial, “Thickening of one’s skin”.
CERTIFICATE
To all that do participate and complete the assignments there will be a revue at the end of your work and a certificate of completion will be awarded by the instructor and school if deemed justified. We will be looking for quality within the work and not just rushed assignments in order to complete the requirements.
*Although you might consider the certificate a token of our appreciation, it is one not to be taken lightly. If awarded a certificate your name will go on our certified Artist list.
When we are contacted by prospective employers looking for student recommendations it is from our certified artist list that we will provide the names from.
REPETITION
You will be given material in some cases over and over. This is not a miss print nor are we getting lazy. Repetition is the key to learning and retaining information. Putting information you have heard over and over into action. What a concept!
*Claiming ignorance without knowledge is acceptable. Claiming ignorance when knowledge has been given is suicide of the spirit.
Come on in with an open mind and heart, take from it what you deem useful and toss out what you don't.
Let’s get started!
Week 1 - Skull break down - Understanding the planes
Breaking down Skull in planes and making it easier to understand, this is the first step of sculpting with planes here you will be introduced to this "technique" that we will develop trough the whole course, it's a common mistake to think everything is round and is not ! We will start to train our eyes to see things differently.
Eyes and ears
Understanding the breakdown for eyes and ears, this two elements are very round but is really difficult to a curve so let's make it simple ! Let's breakdown this 2 elements in planes and understand how to construct the base for it then we can just round up the corners and build the details on top of the strong base we have.
Week 2 - Nose and mouth
Now in this week we will be doing a lot, at the first look is scary we will model the whole head. But you will learn how easy you can build this complex forms by just building the foundation of the skull and adding the elements inside this foundation, so it's like a building and we will be constructing more floors to it, and later we have to finish this building with details and painting, but we cannot paint the building and add details if the foundation is not good/strong enough to support all those things.
The breakdown of the nose and mouth in planes
Head
Putting all the elements together now, a complex thing turning into a very simple task
Week 3 - The torso and arm
Week 3 we will step into something that a lot people have fear to model ,but now you understand how important the foundation of sculpting with planes is, here you will start already seeing forms differently and start to breakdown all the forms in planes by just looking at the picture.
You will see how easy this task will be to model the torso/arms and specially the hands.
Getting two complex anatomy parts and break down in planes for easy understanding
Hands
No need to fear to model hands, I will show how easy this task can be
Week 4 – Legs
Another thing that people are kind afraid of, but like the week 3 you will see how easy this is now, maybe is not easy but simple for sure ! Instead of seeing all those curves and details your eye is now trained to breakdown in planes and straight lines you will simplify the foot and legs just by looking at the picture.
Breaking down the leg in planes for better understanding
Foot
Understanding The foot in planes
Now that we have anatomy firmly in our grasp we will now begin our project
phase of Cezar’s Program.
Sculpt along with Cezar Brandao on a bust of your choosing.
Whether it be a male or what Cezar is known for world wide, beautiful girls.
Week 5
Now this is exciting ! We will start our final project, so to begin with I will show how I setup my references and everything I do to start creating my personal works. And we will start to block the anatomy of our sculpture.
From start to finish, gathering the creative material needed to inform the sculptural process.
Taking pictures, setting up your Photoshop guides and concept. Prepping your base mesh, begin the block in.
Week 6
This week is really important, we will bring life to our sculpture we will put a soul in our character. You can have a very detailed character with a lot of things and pieces and etc.. But if that doesn't look alive if you look into his eyes and you don't feel a connection with that, don't tell you a story.. well something is wrong.
You are creating a sculpture that sculpture have to tell a story, and when we look in the eyes it should make a connection with us we have to feel something about that character, we should feel the emotion that the artist had when creating that can be sad or happy doesn't matter but we have to feel something.
Bring life into the sculpt. Posing, expressions and finding the soul of your character. Adjusting the anatomy
and adding hair and accessories.
Week 7
This week we will be finalizing our sculpture in ZBrush, we will paint the model and give the final touches on our sculpture this will help to bring even more life to our sculpture I read somewhere and it's true " the eyes are the windows of our soul" and you will see when we paint the eyes how it completes everything.
Complimenting the beauty of her anatomy with composition tweaks, further refinement of overall sculpt and accessories.
Introducing color and an in depth look at how color effects mood and the balance of the final artistic piece.
Week 8
So the final week, we will take our sculpture and render inside Zbrush, and then go to Photoshop to finish the work do our final image. With colors and graphics we will create the feeling we want to our final piece and show to people "Hey this how I felt when I did this" without words but just an image we will express our sentiment when we did that work, and the point here we want to feel a connection with this piece and not just us but everyone who looks at our work,
Rendering finishing the image, last minute tweaks to make it all come together.
Lighting the drama, finding the voice, making the beauty come to life, connecting with the viewer.
We provide single payment options as well as an optiong to pay in installments. Following are the pricing details for this program :
